Bring on 2010! I am so excited about this year and what it will bring for my business and yours. If you are like many entrepreneurs its time to reflect and renew your business and professional goals. After the hoopla of “Happy New Year” you have had time to make your New Year’s Resolutions…and maybe even fall off the wagon. I want to encourage you jump start yourself onto a real plan to engineer the business that you want.
Cut away the clutter, the “I’Can’t’s”, the obstacles and everything – and then ask yourself. “If I could buy a cleaning business with a steady stream of customers, that ran itself and I just got to the do the fun stuff (like growing into new areas), and make an easy 6 figure income, how much would I be willing to spend to get that?” The reality is that the business that I describe belongs to many business owners, and there is absolutely no reason why it cannot happen for you! You need only the right plan, and be willing to invest time and some money towards the RIGHT GOALS.
Make this the year that you don’t spend your hours, weeks, and months just trying to “catch up”. Make it the year that you are willing to lose a customer in order to build the dream that you want. Because this is the year that YOU decide I AM NO LONGER WILLING TO GIVE UP WHAT I WANT for someone else’s needs.
You went into business for yourself to build your own schedule, make better money, open up opportunities, develop your career, and enjoy your life, right? And if you are not getting every bit of that…then I encourage you to take an hour to really map out what you want, and begin building a plan for how to get there.
This pep talk is not just for you. The great business minds do this all of the time. You need a strategy retreat (even if you can only eek out an hour) to clear your head and DECIDE what you want. I just let the cat out of the bag, but the real secret of consulting is helping clients decide what they want. Most people don’t have problems achieving what they want, just deciding in the first place what they really want.
